Today I went to the Haagse Markt, to get 2 very important things: fresh coffee, and a leg of lamb for Christmas Dinner.
We sent a message to the “koffieboer” ahead of time, to make sure his stall is open. So when I arrived our order was ready to go, freshly roasted and ground to our requirements. It is just a treat to get this kind of personalised service, and along with it a friendly chat.
After picking up the coffee, I made my way to the fish and meat aisle, to visit the butcher stall. I have always loved a food market and this is just as enjoyable: picking out the wanted cuts of meat and planning menu’s on the fly based on what is available.
After the market I stopped at the hardware store to pick up the goodies I ordered before, since they are only open for “click and collect” and I needed some things for my workroom lights.
On my way home I got a splash of rain (Dutch weather) and I made some sort of bus mistake(wrong bus or wrong stop or something) , so I ended up walking more than planned, but I’ll write it up as experience and getting to know my new town.
Luckily I finally made the wise decision to get one of those shopping trolley things, so I didn’t have to carry all those things around town.
Be kind. Stay safe.
