Virtual celebrations have become a thing.
Today I attended 2 virtual farewells and one project celebration.
It stays weird because we don’t have the human interaction of handshakes and eye contact.
There are some benefits too, like the freedom from attendees to speak,for example in the case of the farewell do’s.
The project celebration took the form of a cooking lesson. We were each sent a grocery list ahead of time, and in the evening we all dialed in from our own kitchen to cook and share a meal. There were some challenges with sound or so, but there was also an opportunity for light banter and the personal touch of a look into each other’s kitchens.
Times are strange and new and we will probably be figuring out new ways to be human for the foreseeable future.
