Life in the time of Corona – Captain’s log: Day 195

Staying on the musical theme, I would like to tell you something about my guitar lessons.

When I started out I was hoping to learn to play a couple of songs well enough so people can sing along socially.

I did not expect to learn jazz chords and Bossa nova strumming, or to learn to play modes and scales and things. And yet, here I am.

But the wonderful thing is this: I’ve never enjoyed playing scales as much as I am now. When I practice the scales along with my teacher while he’s playing the chords, it sounds and feels a lot more pleasant than just rattling off the exercises. I still have a long way to go, but at least I’m enjoying the journey there.

Be kind. Stay safe
