Life in the time of Corona – Captain’s log: Day 60

Today a friend asked me for advice on buying a sewing machine. As a proud owner of a sewing machine and as someone who posted on this same blog about it, I can’t really be surprised right?

What amazes me about the human brain, however, is how it is possible to hold and sort information that you didn’t even know it contained, and then give it back in a useful format, sometimes years later.

I will not pretend that it came out word for word in the way it will be written in a specification, but I could read the brochures if two or three models and quickly summarise the key things to look for. And this in a subject that I’m not busy with every day.

It is very likely that this is the case for most people: there are topics in which information is just there, and ready to use when called upon.

This is just one in the many ways in which I am amazed by the complexity and richness of human beings.

Be kind. Stay safe.
